Первоначальное название коллектива было His Infernal Majesty, но впоследствии его заменили аббревиатурой HIM. Некоторое непродолжительное время во время гастролей по США и Германии группа
использовала названия HER и HIM and HER.
HIM — одна из самых успешных групп Финляндии, их альбомы проданы тиражом более 5 миллионов экземпляров. Пять их альбомов стали платиновыми в Финляндии, один в Германии и один в США. Группа была номинирована на премию Грэмми.
